A stunning clubhouse was built by leading architect Robert Kohn, highlighted by a vaulted living room ceiling with a large fireplace and expansive West facing terrace dramatically overlooking the golf course and setting sun. The course on that location was indifferent and Seth Raynor was hired in 1916 to redesign the course and bring it to it’s potential. They went on to say: “that land can be turned into one of the finest courses in the Metropolitan region.” The Site Committee of the club’s Board of Directors observed at the time: “as far as desirability, practicality and beauty, there are few locations in Westchester County superior to the proposed site”. The sight is historically noteworthy as it was an encampment for French forces when they joined the American colonials in their fight against the British in 1781. In 1916 it was decided to purchase the Overlook Golf Course which occupied 149 acres at the club’s current location in Scarsdale. Initially the club leased a nine hole golf course in Mount Vernon which had been occupied by Siwanoy Country Club. The club’s founders were committed to establishing a preeminent club in the region and it was an immediate success as the membership roll quickly filled. He served 27 years in prison.SUNNINGDALE COUNTRY CLUB was organized in November, 1913 and was named after the renowned British golf club. In 1964, in the year of Elmer Voight's passing, on June 11th, activist Nelson Mandela was sentenced to life imprisonment in South Africa for conspiring to overthrow the state (because of his numerous anti-apartheid activities). The Soviet Union and China backed North Korea and the U.N., primarily the United States backed South Korea. In 1950, he was 39 years old when on June 25th, the Korean War began when North Korean Communist forces crossed the 38th parallel. Almost 5,000 landing and assault craft, 289 escort vessels, and 277 minesweepers were involved.

Soldiers from the United States, Britain, Canada, and the Free French landed on Normandy Beach and were later joined by Poland, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Greece, and the Netherlands. In 1944, at the age of 33 years old, Elmer was alive when on June 6th, the largest amphibious invasion in history was launched - the Normandy landing (called D-Day). (It is now the 34th tallest.) Opening at the beginning of the Great Depression, most of the offices in the Empire State Building remained unoccupied for years and the observation deck was an equal source of revenue and kept the building profitable. At 1,454 feet (including the roof and antenna), it was the tallest building in the world until the World Trade Center's North Tower was built in 1970. In 1931, by the time he was 20 years old, on May 1st, the Empire State Building opened in New York City.
In World War I, planes and zeppelins evolved for use in bombing.
First used for aerial reconnaissance alone, planes were then used in aerial combat to shoot down recon planes. In 1911, in the year that Elmer Voight was born, the first use of aircraft as an offensive weapon occurred in the Turkish-Italian War.
